Alastair Crompton comments on New Dan Dare TV show in the U.K.To dandare@yahoogroups.com Yes, as far as I know, the date in the Telegraph is correct. Sony and Columbia Tri Star sold Dan Dare to Channel Five about three months ago. But when I checked they would not confirm absolutely that that was his final resting place. My Sci Fi TV contact told me that the decision would not be finalised until after the Venice Film Festival. A week or so after that, there is an international auction, when TV programmes for 2002 are put up to the highest bidder. There was a chance Channel Five would be outbid. Titan Books have tken note of the date, and next week the revised edition of The Man Who Drew Tomorrow will go before their marketing committee, who will decide whether they want to publish. At the moment Titan are bullish, and are asking if I can porovide copy on disc, and whether they should revise the layouts. I have urged on them the many new additions available and hopefully they will bite. No news until a week today at the earliest. But yes, DD is certainly on Channel Five. Alastair Crompton Columbia TriStar and Sony told me the show would be on Channel Five about three months ago. But they were unwilling to confirm absolutely, and my sci fi contact told me the real decision would not be made until after the Venice Film Festival, when the TV auctions for Autum 2002 are held. The launch date in the Telegraph is accurate and Titan Books will put The Man Who Drew Tomorrow up for a re-print check early next week. If their marketing people think it's a goer, we will start to put the book together soon. No decision at the moment though. Telegraph/Express are asking for interviews. Let's see what happens.
